The networking that matters is helping people achieve their goals, doing it reliably and repeatably so that, over time, people have an interest in helping you achieve your goals.
Get That?
It’s not about you.
It’s not about you getting value from the people you meet.
It’s about other people.
And making sure they get value from meeting you.
And as much as I would have loved to have come up with “The networking that matters…..” quote (you can tell by it’s simplicity and eloquence that it wouldn’t be from me!), it’s from a quick interview Seth Godin did with corporate blogging expert Debbie Weil.
The 11 seconds of eloquence starts at the 31 second mark and ends at 42 seconds…..for those who are bad at math!
