Taking a day off
One of the tricky bits.....Hello. Hope your weekend is going well.
Firstly, thanks to those people who provided feedback on the newsletter. Appreciate the input.
One of the tricky bits when you run your own business is what happens when you take a few days off sick. I've had the flu over the past few days and missed a few days.
That's the reason I haven't written or responded to the comments on the blog (I'll respond on Monday). But maybe I should have provided something different.
Maybe I should have a system to cater for such sick days to ensure my business keeps operating and there's no loss of production.
I'm onto it now!
have a good night.
Cheers
Brendon

Some general tips for dealing with illness when your a sole trader.
1. If you wake up in the morning feeling under the weather, add an auto - responder to your email informing your customers / clients that your out of the office and maybe just check your web based mail from a wap cell phone or lappy allowing you to stay in bed,
2.Long term sickness 2 - 3 weeks if your in the web design industry like many of us here are then hire a freelancer to complete the projects you have on. goto google and just type in web design freelancer / php freelancer etc.. some services allow designer to bid on the work giving you a cheaper solution.
3. All ways keep your client informed, if the project if going to be late just inform them it will create alot less problem when you are better - this is common sense but you'd be surprised.
Get better soon brendon!

Dominic
Just reading 'Guerrilla Marketing' and wanted to compare some information with that book.
About sick days, the most simple and practical solution I can think of is building it into your schedule.
I dont understand the phrase "Get better soon"... GET BETTER NOW!
Nathen - no worries. More than happy to share the ROI we get.
It's good to say "The ad works well", but it's a damn site better for you if we say it generated 12 leads, made 2 sales, made $50 in sales, etc.
Then you can see how your ads are going compared to someone similar and that provides you with some decent data on which to grow your business.
And that's the goal of this site.
BTW, the ads were in the Gold Coast Bulletin in case anyone was wondering.

My thinking is it's better to advertise in smaller, local papers since you are advertising basically to your local (potential) clients... but what do I know? ;)
Yep, used the Courier Mail - huge display ad on a Satureday - cost me something like $3,500.
1 call that came to nothing.
My thinking was what you said - too many ads.
Have tried smaller ads with the same result.
We've used the Courier Mail for other clients with mixed results.
My next newspaper ad will be the Australian Financial Review on a Wednesday.
Cheers
