Unknown Unknowns
Unknown UnknownsOne of my favourite all time gobblegook (I'm not sure that's a word) was from Donald Rumsfeld answering a question in a news briefing. He said this:
"As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."
That is beautiful work.
Use Simple Words
Unless your a politician use simple words. When you make an offer of your services or products you need as many people as possible to understand you. Avoid jargon, avoid big long words and avoid complex instructions where possible.
