Many people ask me how much for a review of a web site and a report on what needs doing. Obviously it depends on the web site size, but take $400 for a two- (2) hour review and a one- (1) hour meeting to report the findings and suggest ways to improve the site.
We use a range of tools in our assessment, from the latest in software to our own deep experience.
Ongoing Search Engine Optimisation Work
Again, this varies enormously. Prices start from $150 per month for basic ongoing optimisation. We've had clients paying in excess of $15,000 per month for ongoing work - obviously a bit more work that the site paying $150 per month!

Yep, we use blogger for this page.
I've never fully investigated it but I think there may be an initial search engine benefit with the blog.
Mainly because search engines like fresh content.
But what tends to happen is that as the posts slip into the archives they lose whatever search engine ranking they had.
