At the seminar we'll show how to:

  • Find the web developer for you
  • Market your web site
  • Get to the top of the search engines (and make a fortune)
  • Make money from other people's web sites
  • And much more
  • Read more here

The cost is $160 + GST per attendee and includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and full seminar information (we'll provide CD's, printed information as well as our 'Web Site Marketing Kit' valued at $99).

It's targeted for the beginner who hasn't set up a web site through to the web site owner who wants more from his web site.

I am wondering how a $60 website can look like? How can a low budget site be as successful as you sugges?
http://consultancyissues.blogspot.com/
It is just because it is a trick of a sales person.
Brendon is speaking about templates like http://www.templatesmonster.com/.

Looks great, but that's all. A nice picture that your web developer / designer will have to redo or match in proper html - css.

I agree, it is a bit misleading, but, ho, you need to attract the visitor somewhere.
Ya, he is speaking about "a world-class web site design" not a functional website. Nice trick.
Still have a lot to do after that. Hopefully nobody is sufficiently silly to believe it will cost only $60...
Thanks for the feedback.

I disagree that there is any trick there - template sites are as good as any a designer will do, and with many people on a limited budget they represent a very viable and eaxcellent alternative.

Our most successful site ever was a template web site - sure, the design is important but even more important is the content of the site and the marketing.

A good design needn't cost the earth. A perfectly fine web design can be had for $60. Yes, you'll need a web developer to move on and develop it but the cost will be significantly reduced than if you employ a web designer to do the designer.

It's a great solution for many businesses.

Brendon
Brendon, Thanks for the years of info. I'm spending hours reading your archives after devouring your book! Two brief questions: 1. You mention that you read 60 blogs a day and many industry newsletters. In your archives you do mention several of your research sources. Is there any chance you would share a few more with us - say on a easy-to-digest 'Stuff I Read' page? 2. Also, for your fans in the states whom will not be able to attend, I don't suppose you'll be recording your presentation (dvd plus other materials)? Think additional sales!
Brendon:

So, you have a client that buys a $60 template. What would you charge him to modify the template to their needs?

I'm asking because I think this could be a great business model.

Regards,
Keith Burnett
Thanks Ted and Keith

Firstly, Keith - it varies hugely. One site we used a template for we charged almost $6,000. There was a lot of work on content, SEO, etc.

That site is the one this client was talking about: "Our new website was launched last Thursday and since that time we have been totally inundated with enquiries!

In fact, the website has been so successful in generating sales we have had to put both Leslie and Emily on for as many hours as they can manage to keep up with the continual emails and phone calls."

Design is only a small part of a web site's development.

And Ted - I'll do a post on the blogs I read shortly.

Good idea on recording the seminar - we've been thinking about it. i'll get back to you on that one.

Thanks.

Brendon
I agree that we should learn to separate content & design! Ted's idea of a post on the blogs that you read is great, It's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff these days!
