Real Estate Businesses Take A While To Get It

Real Estate Businesses Take A While To Get It
  • Web sites generate almost 33% of all leads for Real Estate agents here in Australia.
  • Weekly newspapers account for 14% of leads.
  • Metropolitan newspapers account for 4% of the leads.
Yet agents continue to spend upwards of $40,000 per year on newspaper advertising which is "completely inverse to where their listings are coming from" according to Stephen Sharry, CEO of franchise chain Raine & Horne.
I don't know why that is - I'd guess because they don't understand the web, are scared of it, or just don't know where to start.
I proposed a blog for a local real estate agent a few months back. he's still thinking about it.
I think a personal blog would be a fantastic place for an agent to get a taste of the effectiveness and power of the web.
Cheers

Brendon,

While a blog would certainly add value to the industry, I'm lucky if I can get my real estate clients to return a phone call-- nevermind make regular posts to a blog!

How do you deal with clients who would certainly benefit from a blog (or newsletter), but aren't equipped to keep up with them? Do you offer a "ghost-blogging" service? Do you write their e-newsletter for them?

Read a great post on Revenews today, http://www.revenews.com/jeffmolander/archives/001124.html

This is reguarding an ad campaign for Audi:

"...(the) blog component of the campaign was one half of one percent of the marketing spend and generated (ready for this?) 29% of the traffic to the Web site."
