It's All In The MarketingI'm the Vice President of the Gold Coast Media Club. We're an organisation comprised of mostly media and advertising people that has charity lunches throughout the year.
We raise money and give it to the chosen charity at the end of the year. This year the charity is the woinderful RACQ CareFlight Queensland.
Anyhow, Jeni Bone (of Edit It) is on the committee and Jeni suggested we ask well known Australian adman Rob Belgiovane as our guest speaker. Whilst Rob is well known within the industry, he's not well known out of it. Many people predicted we'd struggle to get the usual large crowds we attract to the lunches.
But Then Up Stepped Jeni
But then up stepped Jeni. In a whirl or energy, emails and PR Jeni had the event sold out well before the day.
You see, Jeni had access to the perfect target market - the media and ad agencies - and pitched the lunch to them. They're Rob's market, they're his audience and they just kept on booking.
Simple, effective and inexpensive. Perfect marketing.
