FAQ - Mumbo Jumbo Or Does It Make Sense?

FAQ - Mumbo Jumbo Or Does It Make Sense?

A client asked me something yesterday that a few people have asked me over the years.

He looked at the navigation and asked "What's FAQ mean?"

FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions - it's a fairly common abbreviation on web sites.

I wonder just how many people don't know what FAQ stands for - thus making it an irrelevant navigation device on a web site?

It's a great reminder that we have to closely analyse all aspects of a web site development.

Cheers

I always struggle to put FAQ on my sites. The problem is "Frequently Asked Questions" is far too long to put into most navigation menus.

What I use instead most of the time (which I actually took from one of your uggz sites) is "Help Desk". It's pretty straightforward, people know what it might relate to (they can identify with the word "Help"), and the length is just right.

Short, descriptive, and to the point. "Help Desk" is my suggestion.

Hope that helps,

Tom
Thanks Tom

Nice one - that can cover and include many different things.

I like to use "Common Questions." Clearer than FAQ, shorter than Frequently Asked Questions, and it sound friendly too!
