Hit A Bump On The Road!
Hit A Bump On The Road!Oh my goodness. Today I turn 40. That's a bump on the road.
Man, I can't believe it. Seems like just yesterday I was turning 18.
Had a nice day on Saturday - tennis with 7 mates where we had a doubles championship - I lost. Then we all went to the horse races - I lost again. Then back to my place where we had a dinner for 16 with all the food and wine from Tasmania - the place I grew up.
Sunday was out for breakfast, another tennis game (and another loss!), then home for lunch and a few beers. Then that night there was a surprise cocktail party with another 35 people.
Yesterday I spent recovering and falling asleep here at work at my desk until I figured out that I may as well fall asleep at home.
And today - on my actual birthday - I thought I'd potter along here at work for a few hours.
So there it is. I'm now hitting middle age. At least now I can't die young I guess!
Cheers
Brendon
P.S: And thanks to Jenny who commented in this post - as a man hits 40 his fragile male ego needs a boost ..... and the beautiful, wonderful and just plain nice Jenny (I have no idea who you are Jenny!) said "Happy birthday you stud you!"
P.P.S: I received an email from a mate this morning:
"Good morning Brendon
I believe you have something of mine!
Regards
Father Time"

Craig Harper.
Yes Leanne, that was indeed the basis of my strategy with the photo. Most people say "I didn't know your daughter's name was Leanne."
That's how young you're looking.
Great post Craig - my dad is 76 and runs to Kings Beach at Caloundra (7 km), then he swims 2 km and runs home.
His 5 sons didn't believe him until we were all gathered in Caloundra a few years ago and decided to have a race. We set up our own course of running, swimming and cycling.
Dad asked if he could be in the race - we laughed and said something along the lines of "Sure old man. We need someone to be last."
Then we all got our butts kicked by this 'old man' in his late 60's - he thrashed us by about 6 minutes over an hour long race.
I have to confess I'll be flying down to Tassie in the next week or 2 to swim across the Derwent River (about 2 km) and then run up the top of Mt Wellington (about 23 km) - because I did it when I was 21 and then when I turned 30.
My huge male ego tells me I have to see if I can do it again!
God I'm so pathetic!
Cheers
The Birthday Boy
Buon Compleanno, Brendon!
Sincerely,
Luca
Wow! What are the odds that the day I check out your site it's YOUR birthday! Freaky coincidence...today's also MY birthday! So, Happy Birthday to us!
Hopefully I'll be able to treat myself to a birthday trip down to 'stralia some day.

...and if I were single I'd be finding a way down there sooner...Jenny's dead on!

And happy birthday to you too Patty. Apparently only the very best nicest people have a birthday on Nov 21.
Cheers
Brendon
