Don't Help Yourself, Help Your Customer
One of the key philosophies in this business has been to always find the best solution for the client and recommend that.Too many times have we seen firms recommend strategies/products for clients that are the best for the supplying business, rather than the client.
Yesterday, Anthony and I had a short meeting with a businesswoman who wanted some solutions for quite a sophisticated set of problems.
She had been quoted up to $20,000 for various solutions to this point.
I Had A Brainwave...
In our usual backward and forwarding, Anthony and I quickly assessed and dismissed various solutions.
Yes, I am saying we're brighter than others!I mentioned this to Alison and said it would take us an hour or so to assess and make a recommendation.
Most Positive Response In A Month
Alison left the meeting with the words "This is the most positive response I've found in a month of looking."
Half and hour of assessment later and we had the perfect solution. Instead of being $20,000, the solution is $449.
It's The Way You See A Client
I think a lot of businesses see a potential new client and think "How can we make as much money out of this person."
It makes a lot more sense to see a new client and think "How can I help this person as much as possible, and give them the best value possible?"
That, to my mind anyway, is the way to build a business for the long term.
Cheers
