Are Blogger Posts Getting Indexed Almost Instantly?

This web site uses Blogger as the blogging software - that just means I use Blogger to update this site.

I've been noticing with other sites we use Blogger with that the content gets almost instantly indexed in Google.

Let's give it a go.

Raymond F Sinclair

My dad's name is Raymond F Sinclair - this site currently comes up nowhere on Google when you search on that name (see the image on the left).

It's now 10.59 am on Tuesday 11 Dec, 20087 (oooops, see what you meant Meg) by my watch.

The Ramifications

If Google have worked out how to almost instantly update their index (even if it's just from Blogger sites) the benefits of that are enormous and will consolidate their position as the # 1 search engine to use.

Cheers

Brendon (son of Raymond F Sinclair!)

My commiserations (using Blogger). Are you going to go to the draft version to make commenting friendlier for non blogger bloggers?

I've noticed the same thing on my WordPress powered blog - I think they are just very blog responsive.

BTW you might want to check your watch ;)
Hi Meg

Thanks for commenting - not sure what you mean by "{Are you going to go to the draft version to make commenting friendlier for non blogger bloggers?"

We may be changing to WordPress in the New Year - my guys have been hammering me for a couple of years now to change.

The watch is fine - it's Queensland time that's behind everybody else!

Cheers and thanks again.

Brendon
Hi Brendon.

What Meg is referring to is the change in the last couple of weeks on Blogger powered blogs that doesn't allow us to comment as easily as before.

Previously you could comment either with a Blogger account, Anonymously or with your Name and blog address which linked directly to your blog. Now it looks almost the same but calls it a nickname but does not let you have link from your name. So if you want your comment to contain a link so the blog owner or readers can find out a bit about who you are, you need a blogger account and even then the link only takes you to a blogger profile page. Click my name and see.

In think it has being done because Google will use the Blogger profile pages as the backbone of their social network. Only way I can rationalise why Google is "forcing" people to join Blogger to comment as it will boost number of profiles pages as well as get people more familiar with their social network. Bloggers are complaining because it is not as simple or logical as before and a little bit of an evil act by Google/Blogger because it benefits them but doesn't benefit bloggers or commenters.

Hope that made sense.
Anthony
Also, the quick indexing is not restricted to just Blogger blogs.

I noticed this a back in September via my Google powered search facility at blogs.com.au

They just love blogs. Which is such a excellent thing. I think it is part of their universal search goals.
Hi Brendon

Yes, I should have been more specific about the year!

You can read what I wrote about Blogger Commenting, though I'm sure you'd be really happy with WordPress.
Thanks guys

Didn't know that about with the blogger comments.

Love your site Meg.

Cheers.

Brendon
