Valentine's Day Flowers & Other Tips
As the romantics amongst us know (and yes, I'm a romantic - just don't confirm that with my wife!) Valentine's Day is almost upon us.
Whilst I'll be buying my wife flowers on Valentine's Day, many people won't.
Here's the thing about Valentine's Day and flowers - and also about buying stuff.
I'm more likely to buy stuff if it's easy to buy. I imagine you do too.
Let's take Valentine's Day as an example.
If I was a florist, here's what I'd do:
- Keep a database of customers - name and phone number is essential, address and email is desired.
- Group customers according to when/occasions they buy for
- Call up every single customer from last year who sent flowers on Valentine's Day
The Real Tip for (non) Valentine's Day
- Buy your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/lover/mistress/whatever flowers today.
- Attach a note that says:
Loving guaranteed!
Marketing advice and loving advice all in the same post - man, you get great advice on this site!!

You riminded me how some years ago when my wife and I were still courting ... she in Manila and me in Colorado I found aplace that promised international flower delivery at a reasonable price. So I orerd some for Valentines day and also for her birthday which is later in February. There was aminor glitch with the deleievry address and a lady from the flower service called me up and straightened it all up. Good work on he rpart, but hey, it took time and profit from the sales.
Never again did that company call back. They had my good will, they had my certain knowledge they would perform, they had my satisfaction of their quality assured ... but all they wanted from me was that one February's sales ... imagine the dollars they have left on the table since ... and since the actual flowers came from a local florist they could _still_ be selling me V-Day and B-Day flowers even tho I am now in the Philippines.
memo to self, get Mita's flower ordered....
