I Don’t Like It – We’ll Take It

Here’s a promotional card (it’s a pdf file) we are having completed. The look of the card is settled, I just need to work on the copy and we are ready to go to print.

I don’t like the card. I think it’s too plain, a little dull. But I’ve approved the artwork anyway.

“Why?,” you might well ask.

Because I’m not a graphic designer. I have no eye or talent for what works visually. What I think looks good usually looks like rubbish and has nil success at what we are trying to achieve.

On the other hand, Byron (our graphic artist) does sensational work that works. Work that works – who said I can’t write!

So, I do what we all should do as clients. Give the expert marketer/ad agency/media buyer/whoever the brief.

Then get the hell out of the way!

They’re the expert. Do what they recommend. Easy.

Don’t get me wrong – clients provide a huge amount of valuable information and input. But when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of things like the creative work, copy writing or artwork it’s best to go with the experts.

Cheers,
