Qualitative Data Analysis For Marketing

When you’re marketing a product or service it’s essential to ensure your qualitative data is reviewed and analysed in the appropriate way.

I had lunch with the director of one of Queensland’s (my state) largest participant events and they go to great lengths to assess their qualitative data.

The reason for that is it provides them with excellent predictive information – that is they can predict how many previous entrants will re-enter. And they can see where they’re going right and wrong and then address those areas. That is an essential part of marketing.

If they just assess the quantitative data they’ll run the numbers and see the differences in their sales (entrants) – but they won’t know why these changes came about.

It is because the qualitative data is a much better indicator of the future quantitative results.
