How A Major Ugg Boots Retailer Basically Closed Me Down!

This is the truth behind how my retail ugg boot business was basically put out of business by a competitor – how I got the boot!

You see, up until a few years ago I sold a lot of genuine ugg boots. All good quality Australian made. Terrific product, great service, money back guarantee. All that and more.

We sold fine, fine ugg boots at a good price.

Then Along Came This Company…

After years of selling ugg boots, along came UGG® Australia – a large US based company (they bought the business from an Aussie I believe) that have many of their ugg boots made in China.

Ugg boots have long been recognised as an Australian icon. Over the past few years the rest of the world has woken up to the superb quality and feel of Australian uggs.

Anyhow, I know ugg boots. And I have personally visited our manufacturers and know the very strict quality standards they apply. And I knew the great service we provided. So I had nothing to fear from Ugg Australia…..or so you’d think.

How UGG® Australia Closed Me Down…

What happened with the ugg boots was that Ugg Australia started threatening all the ugg boot retailers with legal action if they didn’t stop calling their ugg boots well, errr… ugg boots.

This is despite ugg boots being a generic term here in Australia for sheepskin boots.

After lots of toing and froing we eventually found the constant threats wasted too much of our time and we closed shop.

The main myth about ugg boots

One of the most common questions we get asked is “Will my ugg boots be too warm for the summer?”

The answer to that is a resounding “No.”

Ugg boots are made from the finest wool that has many wonderful properties – letting your feet breath is one of the major ones. And during summer, this means your feet are kept cool. Warm in winter and cool in summer.

Ugg boots are a very versatile piece of footwear. Here in Australia they’ll be worn with bikinis! Others wear their uggs with mini skirts, jeans or long skirts. They really are a boot for every occasion.

Take a look around your local shopping centre and you’ll notice the huge range of ways people wear their most comfortable shoe (or boot).

Hope that helps.
