Best Book List - My Top 14 Business Books
I've always been a big reader - have been for as long as I can remember. I read thousands and thousands of books, mostly business orientated, and my bookshelves at home are filled to overflowing.
Like a lot of people, I find not only information but inspiration from my readings. But, again like everybody else, there's a lot of guff to get past before you find the gems.
Below you'll find a short sharp review on my top 14 business books of all time. I've ranked them in order with # 1 being my favourite. Enjoy!
A wonderfully well-written book by one of the world's most respected entrepreneurs. Paul talks you through 'growing' a business in all senses of the word. His practical examples and simple thinking were the highlights for me - it's a book I keep on coming back to year after year to re-read.
Inspirational and practical.
I'm one of the few who have only just read this book - geez, they call it "Revisted"....I didn't even visit the first time.
It's simple, cliched and states the obvious - and that's its power. A must for any person looking at getting into business (or already in). The book has 1 simple message that Michael presents with terrific clarity which leaves you thinking "D'oh! Why didn't I read this earlier?!"
Sure to awaken the entrepreneur in any businessperson.
Paco writes an engrossing book about the science of why we buy. It's a fascinating read that opens the eyes - and mind - to how we, as businesspeople, might present our wares differently.
"Why People Buy: The Science Of Shopping" is written by the ultimate expert in analysing what influences us to buy in the retail store - with enough hints and information for everyone to grow their business.
Short and simple book filled with no-nonsense practical advice. I must be a late starter as this book is another one I've only read in the last year or 2.
I especially like Jeffrey's 'Killer Questions', along with his insistence on quantifying everything you do in business. Add to that his down-to-earth wisdom, insightful humour and practical thinking and you have a business guide that's invaluable.
As it says on the cover, if identifying, attracting, getting and keeping customers are your goals then this is the book you need.
Originally published in 1992, "Million Dollar Consulting" is still going strong - a great endorsement for the quality of the book. Alan shows you how to market and develop your business into the success you deserve it to be.
Alan takes you step by step through the process of developing a consulting business with proven advice including how to get new clients, how to establish fees, how to use technology to best advantage and how to establish your firm's image.
A classic book for the would-be (or are already!) consultant.
