Guys.

Justice has been finally delivered to our Sport of Surf Life Saving and to the Nth. Cottesloe Crew.

To be blunt, if I was Currumbin SLSC Committee I`d suggest they cop the decision handed down by the Court on the chin and move on.

The rumous flying around prior to and after the recent decision does not reflect the ethics of Surf Life Saing that most prudent Members of the movement adhere to.

The Crew (plural) should have been stripped of ALL Medals inclusive of their 2009 Aussie "Medal" from the date of their known guilt.

To prance around this season "pretending" to be Aussie Champions made most of their peers feel sick in the guts.

Currumbin SLSC and this Crew should try harder next season in trying to prove their critics wrong and win the 2011 Aussies without the assistance of illegal drugs.

The bottom line is the simple clear fact that had the Crew kept their "Medals" they would have been known as "that Crew who cheated".

Nth. Cottesloe in the eyes of their peers are now the real deal and are rightfully acknowledged in the record books as winning a 4th. straight Open Mens Surfboat Championship, which inturn places this Crew as the best in the history of Surf Life Saving.

Regards.

very dissapointing to read in the local paper yesterday the Currumbin SLSC President now talking of the club appealing this latest decision. apparently he (i.e. the Currumbin Surf Club) think the innocence of 4 out of 5 guys matters.

but the fact that the Currumbin boat crew rode to victory with the aid of a steroid boosted crew member dosen't matter??? is this guy on some sort of drug as well?

what ever happened to the zero tolerance that most sporting bodies seem to embrace, and most athletes expect?

Nick,

What the?? Surely this is not true?? This guy is supposed to have been banned from all sport for 2 years for using a banned steriod in competition. Could Currumbin Surf Club really still have him involved in the club's training sessions?

If this is true then it confirms what I have suspected since this sad episode began....the surf life saving movement really does think the use of drugs in sport is OK. The SLSA and Currumbin Surf Club just dont seem to get it.

Honestly, Currumbin Barbars are a disgrace to our sport. I have heard that they still have Peter Atkins sweep them for training sessions. Isn't he banned by SLSA? Not a good look having the open men champions being swept by a banned drug cheat. Unfortunaelty, by winning any carnival this season will not prove that the drugs did not give them an advantage last season. It may be a good motivation for their crew this season but what happened last year will be a case of mud sticks and North Cott are the real champions in every ones mind whether it is put on the record books or not.
