The same thing happened to me, smahed bottle and all! Back in the early 70's living in Glen Iris, Melbourne, Australia. Once a week, after school around 3:30pm we'd go down to the local milk bar, get a pint of milk out of the fridge and ask the owner's daughter to chuck the cottees in. Boy how I miss those bottles, foil lids and cream... my kids today get theirs premixed with ultra-pastuerised milk in waxy cardboard tetrapaks. They enjoy it... but it just isn't the same.
