Doing things differently is often a great business strategy.
If your business is Public Relations here’s what you might do to make a name for yourself.
Come out in support of Kanye West after his antics at the Awards Show where he interrupted singer Taylor Swift’s speech to complain that Beyonce didn’t win the award (real class act).
- Talk about what a brilliant PR strategist he is
- Talk about what a huge boost this incident is to Taylor Swift’s career
- Talk about what a boost it is for West’s career (because it will be)
Every man and his dog is currently talking about this and bagging West for the jerk he seems to be. Here’s the proof he’s a jerk.
But being a jerk has never meant you can’t be successful.
You’d Get Noticed Quick Smart
Taking the contrary approach would work because you’d get noticed.
And right now media outlets would be looking for someone to give the view opposite to everyone else just to keep the controversy going.
Within a few days you’d be known.
And that’s the name of the game, isn’t it Kanye?
Cheers

If this is so it’s sad that he thinks he can’t be known for his talent alone. This will be the last straw. The guy is mentally off-balance somewhere.
I agree with you in principle, and if I thought it was a conscious decision that he made then I’d agree with you wholeheartedly – but I’m fairly sure that there was no thought process behind what he did at all.
Will it do his career more good than harm? Quite possibly. Did he engineer it that way? …I’m inclined to say no!
It’s all speculation of course, so I could be completely wrong – but that’s the impression I get!
Kanye’s done this before, think “George bush doesn’t care about black people” circa 2005. He may not have given it much thought, but even if he only gave it a brief moment he’d know from experience it would do him more good than bad!
Not to mention Beyonce getting a boost as well because of how she brought Taylor back on stage.
And not to mention the VMA award ceremony, getting heaps of publicity.
I prefer to believe he’s an absolute jerkoff rather than think he could be doing it for PR. Doing it for PR takes enough brains to know it will work and not enough brains to realise what a selfish a**hole he is being.
Kanye is a nut, but I completely agree that this will not hurt his career. I have to say that Jay Leno did a good job of putting Kanye in an awkward spot last night though. If you have not seen that clip, check it out.
