  • Greetings!

It's been a big few weeks with a 1,000 km charity bike ride, more work than we've ever had and tons happening elsewhere.

I finished the 1,000 km bike ride just fine - a few sore muscles, but all ok. More importantly, we raised a terrific amount for the charirty - including a donation that made my wife cry!

Our search engine work is getting great results at present, which is always good (rather tricky to do, and even harder to explain what works and what doesn't).

And check out the story about the new Spratti Art site - hopefully you can see the site!

    Happy reading!

The Absolute Best Thing About Me Riding 1,000 KM

People who read this blog never cease to amaze me with their kindness and generosity.

As you might know, I signed up for a 1,000 km charity bike ride from Sydney to Surfers Paradise (home) at the end of March.

The main beneficiary of the funds raised is the well know Fr. Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets.

I had a heap of donations roll in, including $500 from ABC Bricks and SitePoint, $200 from my good friend Joanne Kershaw and $30 US from Bruno Lenette from Sydney (who I didn't know - in fact, I didn't know many of the kind people who donated). A total of $2,748 + was raised.

The best thing about doing the ride wasn't the ride itself - even though it was a fantastic challenge and I had a great time with some amazing people.

It wasn't even the kindness of strangers who have happily contributed to a cause on the other side of the world just to help out a guy whose web site they read occasionally.

Nope. It was seeing the sort of son I have.

We've had some huge successes in getting our own and client sites to the top of the search engines lately for very important terms.

We've also been documenting our work on a case study we're doing of a web design firm in Belfast.

The site was # 426 in Google for "Belfast web design" and "web design Belfast". After 34 days the site went from # 426 to # 7!

We've had another client go from # 216 in Google for a major keyword to # 6...... in just 9 days.

If you want to learn how to do it yourself, there is a heap of info on our site to help you: Case Study The Secrets To Top Search Engine Rankings Web Site Marketing

Great Site Launched - But We Don't See It

We've just launched the revamp of a new site for Australian caricaturist Phil Spratti.

Phil has completed a couple of caricatures for me for gifts and they are, without question, the best gifts I have ever given (that's Mel on the left)

Phil's new site (www.sprattiart.com) has a range of features, including a blog, solid search engine optimization, case studies, and more, that will ensure it is a great success.

    But There's A Small Hitch

Yesterday at 3 pm we did what's called delegated the domain name - that is we launched the new site and abandoned the old site.

What that means is the new site should start showing up within a few hours when you visit www.sprattiart.com.

And it does.....for Phil. And for overseas viewers. And for interstate viewers. But not for us here at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast!

Sometimes this happens and it's just a case of waiting for the site to 'flush' through the Internet.

    In Brief (Not In Briefs)

The best story ever demonstrating why you must market in context - that is, if people aren't told you're great then they don't know!

Libby Lenton got married in a tent - and this blog post by me attracted hundreds of visitors. Here's how web people can make money from that.

Frequent Tailored.com.au guest Anthony Dever has launched this year's Fuglies - Australia's favourite anti-crap TV Show Awards.

If Naomi Robson doesn't win "Most Spankable Female TV Personality" then there is something wrong with the people of Australia!

Palm Beach Scouts had a sausage sizzle recently to raise money - here's how they raised more than usual.
