Paying money to Google slightly better than paying money to SEO experts
In this post below, I mentioned that the sales conversion rates of Pay Per Click advertising is slightly higher than sales conversion rates of organic (free) search engine rankings.
I mentioned that I couldn’t think of a decent headline for the post.
So my online mate, Anthony Dever, has suggested the above – much better.
But I’d suggest that it’s not quite right – after all, paying money to an SEO expert will get you ongoing free visitors to a range of search terms and be, in my humble opinion, much better long term value (but your online marketing needs to include both Pay Per Click and search engine optimization).

P.S: Thanks Anthony!

Why did you change the bloody headline?
Ali, Thanks for defending my original work.
Brendon, don’t mess with with the work of a category four creative genius. Though this blog is a family publication so I’ll let it slide.
You’re right about the need for spending on both organic listing improvement tactics and PPC. The original ClickZ story gets traction because people especially those in business always want a lay down mazare. Unfortunately though it’s just not that easy. Everything needs to be planned to get the mix right for each individual businesses.
Yes Anthony, I’d believe a category 4……..cyclone. A lot of wind if you ask me! ;o)
And Ali, please don’t encourage him. I’m pretty sure he’s an egomaniac already.
Cheers
Brendon
The long term value of SEO is undeniable. Besides being a great hedge against ad price inflation it also helps you build what may ultimately become prime internet real estate.
The benefit to buying advertising from Google, or any other PPC network, is instant results. I meet people who have SEO down great, but they could double or even triple their yearly revenue if they just spent some time with PPC.
Howdy Andrew
Good to hear from you.
Yep, I’d go with SEO as a strong part of internet marketing strategy.
But with clients, because there are no guarantees on results they don’t usually believe our predictions, or have the patience to wait for quality results.
