Peter Atkins Actions Lead to Team Disqualification

by Brendon Sinclair on March 25, 2010

Back in December I wrote a blog post titled “Crisis Management Means Doing The Right Thing“.drug-cheat

I detailed the case of a drug cheat helping his team to victory and how the Club of the guy using the drugs didn’t do the right thing.

Well, looks like today finally some sense was brought to bear with the Club being stripped of the win.

About time.

How the hell the Currumbin Surf Club (which is just down the road from me) allowed this issue to get resolved by being ordered to forfeit the title, medals, etc is beyond belief for me.

Cheers

Brendon

very dissapointing to read in the local paper yesterday the Currumbin SLSC President now talking of the club appealing this latest decision. apparently he (i.e. the Currumbin Surf Club) think the innocence of 4 out of 5 guys matters.

but the fact that all these guys rode to victory over other fair minded competitors, with the aid of a steroid boosted rower doesn’t matter??? is this Currumbin President on some sort of drug as well?

Thanks for following up on this Brendon. I recall when you first posted about the issue and of course it’s not something I am likely to learn about on my local news.

It’s truly sad that this chap would consider he’s still in the right after all this time, and even consider an appeal. Men of honor and conscience are indeed in very short supply these days ….
