Host Recommendations

Over the years I've used probably 50 different web hosting companies and in that time you get to learn a few tricks of the trade.

The Inside Information

Let's start off with a bit of insider information.

Two main things you need to be aware of:

1. There are what I call "Ignorance Hosts" - these are the type of hosts who charge absolute top dollar for not much space, not much bandwidth and not much service.

These guys simply rely on their customers not understanding what options are really available to them.

2. Many hosting companies are simply hosting resellers - that is, they buy a big chunk of space and bandwidth at wholesale prices and sell off the space and bandwidth in little bits at retail prices and pocket the difference.

There's nothing wrong with that of course. Many web developers, including my web business, do this.

It equates to terrific control and ease of work for us as the web developers, makes us a little extra profit to keep our businesses going and the customer gets a great service because the web developer takes care of all the technical issues that arise.

With the above in mind, I'd like to recommend 2 hosting services for you:

Number 1 Cheap Web Host Recommendation

Blue Host has what I consider the 3 essentials of a great host:

1. Great hosting - tons of space, tons of bandwidth and heaps of features
2. Great support - super quick, relaiable and effective. This is critical
3. Great price - in my experience you simply won't get better value for money

Number 2 Cheap Web Host Recommendation

Now this second host is a little different to Blue Host in that we use these guys for our reseller hosting.

That is, we buy a Reseller Hosting package from them and onsell hosting to our clients.

You see, with Hostgator we sign up for a Reseller Plan starting from $24.95 US per month.

For that we get an amazing amount of space, bandwidth and features including:

• 24 gb of disk space
• 250 gb of bandwidth
• Unlimited domains on the account
• Much, much more

I highly recommend Hostgator for those with absolutely massive sites or for web developers looking to provide hosting services for their clients.

We have just recommended and moved a friend to Hostgator - this friend was paying $299 for 50 gb of bandwidth per month.

He moved over his main massive site and a couple of other smaller sites - he's saving himself over $4,000 per year.

x5 Bandwidth, 1/10th The Price

That's x5 the bandwidth of his old host for 1/10th the price!

We host up to 60 clients (you can host more if you want) on a Hostgator Reseller Account - the $24.95 per month deal - and the speed and service is exceptional.

Whilst both of the above are cheap web hosting services, the great price in no way means lower service. The service we've received from both has been exceptional.

Whilst other people go into great depth regarding hosting recommendations, I'm more than happy with the above to give you all the relevant information to make a decision.

Like my old mum used to say, the proof is in the pudding - give either host a try and I'm sure you'll be absolutely delighted.

I've used Constant Contact for years and they are the best I've ever used - simple, easy, cheap, brilliant tracking (i.e you know how many opened the email and lots more) - Very highly recommended.
