The Real Secret To Your Web Site

by Brendon Sinclair on February 25, 2009

I’ve seen plenty of people fail with their web sites, just as I’ve seen plenty of people succeed.

And yes, there is a common thread between the winners and the losers.

The common thread is this – passion.

If you start a web site about something you’re not that interested in, then chances are high you’ll fail.

If you start a site about something you’re passionate about, you’ll succeed.

A Neat Example

Here’s a neat example.

A couple of years ago my then 15 yo daughter and I sat in front of my computer to develop a site from start to completion.  The site would take about 5 hours work.

I told Laura that we’d split the income from the site 50/50 if she stayed and helped me develop the site over the next 5 hours.

She wasn’t really interested in the topic we chose, lost interest after an hour and went to the beach!  So big fail.

My son Jack is a cycling nut – he loves all thing bike riding, has completed an amazing ride and is always on his bike.

Bike Storage Site Lifts The Interest

To show Jack the ropes of how web businesses work we developed a bike storage site.  It’s something he’s interested in, so he’s stuck with it and helped it develop along.

It’s been a year or so now and he makes a few sales to give him a little extra pocket money (plus we have 4 of these great bike storage hoists in our garage).  His passion in bikes keeps him interested and he continues to work at it because of this.

Simple Really

It’s simple really – whatever you have passion about you’ll generally succeed in.

So before you develop that new web site, decide if you’re really passionate about it because that’s the key to its success.

Cheers

Brendon
