Web Analytics from the Victorian Goverment

Web Analytics from the Victorian Government

The Victorian government has a great site online to share online resources and info. One resource outlines Web Analytics. This is good stuff, its nice to see Australian state governments getting up with the times!

The page on Web Analytics talks about Key Performance Indicators etc, and links off to a lot of other resources you might find useful.

Just a thought: in one part of the report, they say:

A key philosophy of Web 2.0 is that websites should always be in beta version. They are never ‘finished’.

Nevermind the Web 2.0 buzzwords – no website is ever finished, no matter what “version” of the internet it uses! The best way to keep visitors coming back to your site is to keep the content fresh, so you should always be updating it. (Keeping a blog on your site, be it personal or business orientated, makes this very easy)

Cheers,

I agree with Brendon that a site is never complete. Every week, I try to improve one aspect of my site. Look, demos, blogs, code extracts, multiple languages (soon I hope) and much more. Then you start working your search engine optimizations, backlinks. It’s a never ending work. But I think it pays. More and more people come see us, and I hope to build a good credibility of my web site.

On the continuity, now, when we delivered the site to our customers, we try to convince them to buy a site maintenance program with us. Let us do the maintenance (for a fee. I know you hate it anyway) and you should have more and more visitors.
